Campaign Privacy Policy


Introduction

Dalmarnock Village Housing Campaign is a project run by Glasgow Bridgeton Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) with the aim of gaining insight into residents’ personal experiences with housing issues, and learning how these impact residents’ lives. Glasgow Bridgeton CAB is the data controller of the information (“personal data”) it receives about you if you choose to take part in the project and we are responsible for ensuring your personal data is processed in line with data protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

This privacy notice explains how we collect and use information about you when you engage with the campaign, either in person, over the telephone, by email, or via our website contact form.

The information we collect about you

Personal data is information that can be used to identify you. We may also collect special category data about you, if you choose to disclose it. Special category is personal data that is more sensitive in nature, such as information about your health, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation.

We will collect your personal data directly from you when you take part in the campaign.

The personal data we may process about you includes:

  • Contact information such as your name, address, telephone and email
  • Demographics and health information to help us understand your personal circumstances
  • Information about the current condition of your property and your occupancy type
  • Feedback on your housing association’s actions to date
  • Feedback on other stakeholder’s actions to date
  • Your contact preferences
  • Video and audio recordings of you discussing your experience
  • Photographs and videos of your property and your housing conditions

How we use your personal data

We may use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • We use your information to support our campaign and evoke action by relevant parties to improve housing conditions in the village
  • We will use your information for analysis purposes to understand current housing conditions and to produce research outputs
  • Where you agree, we may use your information for educational or campaigning purposes, in publications, talks, or broadcasts
  • Where you agree, we may use your information for marketing and fundraising purposes
  • Where you agree, to organise a face to face interview with you for more information on your circumstances
  • Where you agree, to arrange an air quality check in your home

How we share your personal data

We will only share your personal data if the law permits us to do so. For the purposes of this project, we have a legitimate interest in collecting your views and personal experiences to support our campaign and we may share anonymised information and statistics that we create using the information you provide to us. If you agree, we might share information about you, for example, we might share a video recording of you discussing your experience, but only if we have your permission.

Where you have requested to receive an air quality check in your home, we use a qualified third party surveyor to carry out this check for you. We will share necessary information with them to attend your home to carry out the check.

If you take part in our online survey or a face to face interview, we will use the insights and statistics from these surveys which may be used externally to support our campaign. We will anonymise the data unless we have your permission to use information that identifies you.

How long we keep your personal data

We will only keep your personal data in an identifiable format for as long as we need it to fulfill our purpose of gathering evidence and statistics for this campaign.

We will retain your data for long-term research and archiving purposes, as it may have historical value in understanding housing conditions and residents’ experiences. Where we keep your information for these purposes, we will ensure that it is protected through secure storage, limited access, and where possible, pseudonymised or anonymised.

Your rights

You have certain rights under data protection laws. You can exercise these rights by contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO) at Bureau@bridgetoncab.org.uk:

  • right to request access to your personal information – you can request a copy of the personal information we hold on you;
  • right to request correction of your personal information – if any personal information we hold on you is incorrect, you can request to have it corrected;
  • right to request erasure of your personal information – you can ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances;
  • right to object to processing or restrict processing of your personal information – you may object to our processing of your personal data in certain circumstances;
  • right to request the transfer of your personal information – to provide you, or a third party you have chosen, with your personal information;
  • right to withdraw consent – where we process your data on the basis of consent, you can notify us that you want to withdraw consent any time;
  • right not to be subject to automated decision-making and profiling; and
